| I am greatly honored to cordially invite you to the 66th Annual Japanese Clinical Ophthalmology Congress. This event will be held from October 25 to 28, 2012, at Kyoto International Conference Center, Kyoto, Japan. After the earthquake and tsunami on March 11 last year in Japan, the country is still experiencing difficulties, and ophthalmology in Japan has also been adversely influenced. Nevertheless, Japan is strong and is recovering from this tragedy. Without a doubt, ophthalmology in Japan will also overcome this ordeal. In this meeting, there will be 2 plenary lectures by Professor Takashi Fujikado of Osaka University and Professor Hidenobu Tanihara of Kumamoto University. We have also invited Professor David R. Hinton of the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, and Professor Shuh Narumiya of the Department of Pharmacology, Kyoto University, to deliver special lectures. I am sure all the participants will be inspired by these lectures. The Annual Japanese Clinical Ophthalmology Congress has strengthened in number, and we are expecting over 7,000 delegates this year. The congress is now one of the biggest ophthalmology meetings in the world. One of the main purposes of this congress is to deliver current knowledge and technology in order to further improve the level of eye care in the world. Therefore, this meeting is important for not only ophthalmologists but also eye care personnel. The recent rapid development of Asian countries and breakthroughs in science and technology are important considerations that will be addressed in this congress. Some symposia and paper presentations will be delivered in English for the benefit of foreign delegates. I welcome Asian doctors and health personnel to participate in this Congress. Together with the vice president of the congress, Dr. Kenji Sasamoto, and the Chairperson of the Program Committee, Professor Shoichi Sawaguchi of Ryukyu University, I hope all the participants enjoy this meeting and their stay in this beautiful city of Kyoto. Sincerely, |
